Tap In

Wow hi!

Twice in two weeks! Look at me go!

In DCLS, we have lots of different responsibilities. We memorize Scripture every week, we go on outreach, and we have jobs to do at church. We have two regular church days: Thursdays and Sundays. My every other Thursday job is during service, but last Thursday I managed to catch one important verse that really stuck out to me.

Hebrews 11:11 (Passion Translation):

"Sarah's faith embraced God's miracle power to conceive even though she was barren and was past the age of childbearing, for the authority of her faith rested in the One who made the promise, and she tapped into his faithfulness."

First part of the Scripture mentions how she "embraced God's miracle power". How powerful is that?! We serve a God of miracles, and I get to see it every single day. Not only do I secondhand get to hear about it and celebrate with others as they see miracles come to pass, I get to see my own happen in my life. For example, I have had the privilege of going to Pueblos every single Friday since the end of September. Pueblos is a housing development site we go to every week. It's truly my second home here in Los Angeles; I couldn't be more comfortable there. Just this semester we met a couple kiddos: Royalty, Niere, Casey, Favian, AJ, Alayah, and more. We play kickball and have water balloon fights and eat snacks and dance all afternoon.

What is the most surprising and heartwarming to me is watching them interact with our short termers. At the end of January when we first met them, they wanted nothing to do with our short termers. They would barely look, let alone speak, to them. It was always awkward to interact and my girls would only want to hang around me and my AAB team. But slowly, they became more open. They started to talk and interact with the short termers. The transition from not speaking to any of the teams to looking forward to them coming makes my heart so happy. It's all a testament to His faith and miracle power. All I had to do was embrace it.

Next part. "The authority of her faith rested in the ONE who made the promise". No matter what life throws at you, your faith should rest in our great God alone. He made the promise, but didn't give you the timeline in which it would be fulfilled. I know it's tough, but I'm learning this, too. What I hear most from God is simply "trust me". Be still and patient; rest in the One who made the promise. (If you want more Scripture on His timing and not our own, check out Ephesians 1. It's my favorite Scripture.)

And lastly. "She tapped into his faithfulness". We serve an ever-present, 24 hour- 7 days a week God. You are welcome to tap into Him at any time. He has come through and provided each and every time you've needed it before this, so what makes you doubt that this time will be different? No matter what you're walking through, you can tap into Him and His faithfulness. He will provide each and every time. It might not be on your timeline, or what you want, but it will always be exactly as He knows you need.

(Little story for you about doubt: in DCLS, we have a team night called Fight Night. Ours was close to two months ago now, and it is pretty much a night to work out your issues with God and lay it all out for Him. When it was my time to go, I kept doubting myself. I kept doubting God and His faithfulness and His promises to me. After a while, I stepped back in uncertainty. My sweet second year Jaylinn asked me, "Are you doubting yourself?" It put an entire new perspective on doubt for me. He has come through time and time again for you and for me; what makes you believe this time is different? Don't doubt Him or yourself or His promises.)

I really felt led to share this Scripture. I hope it relates to you in someway and can make you remember His good faithfulness and how you need only tap in to receive it.

So I challenge you this next week: tap in. Love hard. Remember His promises. And don't doubt His abilities, promises, or faithfulness.

Much love,
Ry
